Automate Discord + Google Calendar with GAIA
Add events to Google Calendar from Discord and get your reminders as Discord DMs
Discord has no built-in Google Calendar integration, so there is no setting in either app that connects them. You connect Discord to Google Calendar in one of three ways: a community event bot that posts and tracks events in your server, an automation tool such as Zapier or Make that sends Google Calendar events to a Discord channel through a webhook, or a personal assistant like GAIA that works with your own calendar from inside Discord. Which one fits depends on whether the calendar belongs to the community or to you.
For a whole server's events: Discord's own scheduled events (the Events section above the channel list) let members mark themselves Interested and get notified when an event starts. Event bots such as Sesh and Apollo add RSVPs and reminder posts in a channel, and Sesh also offers Google Calendar sync. To post reminders into a channel ahead of each event on a shared Google Calendar, an automation that triggers before the event starts and posts to a Discord channel webhook is the most direct setup.
GAIA covers the personal side. GAIA has a Discord bot: link your GAIA account, then DM the bot or @mention it in a server channel and it works on your Google Calendar. Ask it to add Friday's game night at 8pm UTC, check whether you are free on Saturday, or move a session, and it replies where you asked. Reminders and scheduled briefings arrive as Discord DMs when Discord is your preferred chat platform. GAIA does not read your server's channels or its Events section, and it does not post scheduled announcements into a server channel, so it does not replace an event bot.
4 things you can automate
Everything GAIA can do when Discord and Google Calendar are connected.
Add an event to your Google Calendar from Discord
DM GAIA or @mention it with the details, for example "add the study session Thursday 6pm to 8pm CET to my calendar". GAIA creates the Google Calendar event and confirms in the same conversation.
Get event reminders as Discord DMs
Ask GAIA to remind you before an event, for example "remind me an hour before the raid", or every week before a recurring one. With Discord set as your preferred chat platform, the reminder arrives as a DM from the GAIA bot.
Check your schedule without leaving Discord
Ask "what do I have tomorrow?" or "am I free Saturday evening?" and GAIA reads your Google Calendar and answers in Discord.
A daily agenda in your Discord DMs
Create a scheduled workflow that sends you each morning's calendar events, plus anything urgent in your inbox, as a Discord DM.
How to set it up
Connect Discord and Google Calendar to GAIA in three steps.
- 1
Connect Google Calendar to GAIA
Sign in to GAIA and connect Google Calendar from the integrations page.
- 2
Link your Discord account
Message the GAIA bot on Discord. The first time, it sends you a link to connect your Discord account to GAIA. Set Discord as your preferred chat platform if you want reminders and briefings there.
- 3
Ask GAIA in a DM or with an @mention
Tell GAIA what to schedule, check, or remind you about. For recurring reminders or a morning agenda, ask it to set up a reminder or a scheduled workflow.
